Too often copyrights are now used as an offensive weapon, rather than simply to afford protection.

Copyrights have been so coopted by the recording industry, that they are now used as an offensive weapon, rather than simply to afford protection. Sony[sic] Bono deserved what he got. What happened to SCO, anyway?  I bet Darl is still walking the streets a free man.
 
 
The Open Circuits copyright is not like that.
